With the unbelievable summer and fall that we’ve had this year, it’s hard to believe that we are just a little more than a month away from Christmas. Although Clarington has yet to experience this year’s first significant snowfall, signs of the winter season are popping up all around us. Pumpkins, goblins and spider webs on neighbours’ front porches have been replaced with twinkling lights, festive urns and wreaths and garlands made from many varieties of evergreen boughs. Indoors, many homes are being decorated and colourful poinsettias will soon be adorning tables and mantles.
Today, at Rekker Garden Centre on Highway #2 in Bowmanville, there is an Open House featuring 8 acres of poinsettias. Earlier this week, I visited Rekker’s, one of the locations where I sell my framed photo greeting cards, and was overwhelmed with the beauty of the rows of red, pink, white and burgundy blooms of all sizes and arrangement styles. Below, you will see in my slide show a few of the photos that I took of the poinsettias, as well as some of my other winter photos from winters past. If you miss the open house today, you can return any day except Sunday, throughout November and December to purchase your greenery, cards, other gifts and my cards!
I am busy today preparing photo serving trays, original framed photo greeting cards and framed pictures for my participation as one of the guest artists at Archibald Orchards and Estate Winery which is one of the locations in the Christmas In Clarington Country tour. This popular event features a “mall free Shopping Tour featuring activities and lunch”. Gourmet treats, wines, jewellery, pottery and many more gift items are available at over 20 locations in Bowmanville, Orono, Tyrone, Enniskillen and Newcastle area. Christmas in Clarington Country runs from November 26 to November 28th between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. For directions and details, call 905 263-2944 or visit www.thesprucetree.com.
Hope to see you at Archibald’s next weekend as you take part in Christmas in Clarington Country!
Thanks for introducing me to your web page when I met you at Archibald Orchards. You have great photos on your site. Keep on clicking in 2011 and all the best.
Andy, I appreciate your feedback and just took a peek at your website. The Bailley bridge in Scarborough looks somewhat familiar. Is it near Finch and Meadowvale? Looking forward to checking your site out in future. I can see you’re much more disciplined than I am at doing your posts! Jane
Your site is so nicely put together Jane. Some of your pictures really are breathtaking. I especially love the one with all the ice hanging off the trees. I hope you have entered that one somewhere. I will look forward to checking in now and then to view your new shots captured from behind the lens.
Glad you liked the site. I appreciate getting feedback! Maybe I will enter the photo you liked in one of the upcoming contests. Jane
