Roadside Wonders

During the past week, I’ve been travelling the country roads rather than the busy highways to do some of my errands in nearby towns.  At this time of year, with the vibrant Fall colours, I’ve made the time to stop and capture some spectacular” farm scapes” along Lake Ontario near Port Hope and Brock Road in Pickering. On Sunday, returning from an art show in Lemonville, I had the added bonus of a young red-tailed hawk landing on a tall post beside the road where I was able to pull over safely and get 2 shots before he flew away. I did miss the BIF (bird in flight) photo!

For this post, I’ve chosen only a couple of photographs to share. I really do love them and hope that you do too. Feel free to comment if you enjoy them too.

Very nice. I especially liked the lines in the “Beauty from the car window” and the hawk from the window. Thanks for sharing…

Great landscape photos, Jane Š and what serendipity with that hawk! I’m guessing that you must keep one eye on the road, and the other on the lookout for birds. I’ve never been that lucky Š Clive is a good spotter while he’s driving, but then he’s usually going so fast that by the time he turns around for me to take a photo, the bird’s long gone!

    • Eva, I wondered if somewhat might refer to what I was doing that day as distracted driving! I like to think that it wasn’t the case. It was actually hard to miss as it was so near the road.

Your hawk looks like the same one Joe Noordman captured today (Pixel Shooter)Š

Jane: Thank you for sharing your pictures with us! The picture of the Hawk is interesting; and also the corn fields are a real eye catcher. David was here the other night to pick up the jacket I exchanged for him. A perfect fit this time! Ruth Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2013 21:54:49 +0000 To: beaucan@hotmail.com
