Catching the Waves on Lake Ontario

November 1st seemed to be the day that fall really arrived here in Newcastle, Ontario.  It was a blustery day with winds from the southwest around 50 miles per hour .  Since I had my camera with me in the car (like I normally do!), I stopped at Bond Head on my way home from errands.

I wasn’t the only one to realize this would be a perfect day for a shot at the waves…the surfer guys and girls were prepared in their wet-suits with their boards  and were out there pursuing their passion…….surfing on Lake Ontario. This was a sight I expected to see in California, not just down the road from my home in Newcastle. Here are some of the photos I took using my telephoto lens. I used the same settings as I do for birds and the results speak for themselves.

  2. It is certainly not a common sight, so your pics offer something rather unique. Perhaps your local paper would print…. just a thought.
