A Summer of Beautiful Blooms

It is difficult to realize that summer is drawing to a close as we are still experiencing July-like weather with very warm days and nights and light summer breezes.  Nearly every day is filled with sunshine and some humidity. Perfect growing weather! It is hard for me to do anything inside so I’ve been very lax in keeping up with my blog.

The summer of 2015, although it began wet and cool, was perfect for my gardens.  Our grass did not dry up in August and the perennials have continued to bloom beautifully.

Many of the photos that I am going to post were taken with my Canon 100-400 mm. telephoto lens which I normally use for my wildlife pictures.  It allows me to focus nicely on the individual blossoms, especially the centres of the flowers.  A few of the garden pictures were shot with my Tamron 18 – 270 mm. lens.

I am also updating my Flickr site today.  Feel free to click on the link in the right-hand sidebar to see a few more photos.

Your garden looks amazing and you’ve beautifully photographed each flower. I am not familiar with Japanese anemone but they are really beautiful. I’ll look up if they are hardy on zone 4, I’d like to have some. I couldn’t believe how beautiful my garden was this summer, the flowers were more abundant than previous years and I wonder why because I didn’t do anything different. The roses were amazing, they bloomed much longer than usual. It was nice to see these colourful photos this morning Jane, and Oh your sunroom… I have to tell you again how beautiful it is, and I love the architectural ornaments. Have a nice day Jane 🙂

    • It is so nice to hear from you, Jocelyn. I always enjoy your blog especially when you showcase your flowers. Perhaps you will share some more of them soon.
Most of my plants were unbelievably tall and had lots of blooms. I attributed this to the very rainy June that we had this year. I will tell Joe how much you love the sunroom that he built. It does provide us with a lot of enjoyment. Take care!
